ProStart team punches ticket to nationals, Gregory named Nebraska ProStart Teacher of the Year

After making it past regionals and state, the Milford High School ProStart team will get to represent Team Nebraska in Baltimore at the end of April for nationals. Mallory Gregory, FCCLA and ProStart teacher at MHS, said the Milford team competed in the culinary section of the competition and the team developed a menu that includes a starter, entree, and dessert with specified portion sizes for each. The team won the competition to punch its ticket for the national competition.
Along with Milford winning the final three event, Gregory was named the Nebraska ProStart teacher of the year. She said she feels humbled and grateful for the award.

SHS baseball sweeps two

The Seward baseball team won both games in a triangular March 21, topping Aurora 13-0 and St. Paul/Palmer 14-3. Brycen Burt went 2-4 and drove in four runs in the win over Aurora. Kolton Loos pitched all five innings and struck out seven. Reggie Sukup went 3-4 with a double to lead the offense against SPP. Finn Hochstein drove in three. Burt got the win on the mound, striking out six in five innings.

CHS swept in cold

The Centennial baseball team hosted a triangular March 23 and lost both games, falling to North Platte 23-0 and to South Sioux City 10-0 in Beaver Crossing. The offense struggled to get going in both games, finishing with no hits on the day. The Broncos are scheduled to play at St. Paul/Palmer March 26.

CM baseball drops Friday game

The Crete-Milford baseball team fell short to Omaha Westview 8-3 March 22 in the first game of a scheduled tournament. Nick Wendt collected a pair of singles for CM's only hits of the game. Carson Kotil walked twice. Saturday's games were not played because of weather. Crete-Milford is scheduled to host Lincoln High March 26.

Golf hosts invite in cold, wind

Seward High hosted its annual golf tournament March 22 and finished fifth in the team standings with a 350. Lincoln Christian won the meet with a 332. Matthew Wegman led the Jays with a fifth-place finish and score of 81. Seward's next competition is March 28, a triangular at Crete.

Freshman leads Eagles at invite

Milford freshman Zephyr Mowinkel shot an 82 and placed seventh in his first high school meet, the Seward Invitational March 22. Caleb Kleint just missed a medal with a 17th-place finish and an 87 over the 18 holes.
