Construction zone expands

Starting Monday, April 15, the south half of the US-34 and N-15 intersection will be closed for construction, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Eastbound and westbound traffic on US-34 will be shifted to the north side of the intersection and will be in a head to head configuration with lane delineation. N-15, south of US-34, will remain closed. Northbound and southbound N-15 traffic will remain detoured using Izaak Walton Road, 294th Street and US-34 during this phase of construction. These phases of construction are expected to be complete before July 1.

Go fly a kite

The annual Seward Rotary kite flying contest will be Sunday, April 14, at 2 p.m. at the Plum Creek Park soccer fields.

Broncos fall on road

The Centennial baseball team struggled to find offense April 11 against Thurston/Cuming County in a 10-0 loss. Devin Slawnyk and Ayden Konken had the hits for the Broncos. CHS will host Guardian Angels Central Catholic/West Point Beemer Saturday, at 10 a.m. in Beaver Crossing.

Jays get road win

The Seward baseball team picked up a 7-3 win over Lincoln Northwest April 11. Reggie Sukup and Bostyn Happ had two hits each, and Cale Gardiner drove in two runs. The Jays will play Lincoln Christian and South Sioux City tomorrow in a triangular at South Sioux City.

Malcolm falls in semifinals

A four-run seventh inning gave Beatrice an 11-8 win over Malcolm in the Trialblazer Conference semifinals April 11. Malcolm took the lead with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Logan McGreer was 3-4 and Luke Schmidt was 2-4 with another home run. Malcolm will play Wahoo/Bishop Neumann tomorrow at 11 a.m. for third place in the conference tournament.

SHS boys fall to Crete

The Seward boys' soccer team was at Crete last night for the first round of the Central Conference tournament and lost to the Cardinals 2-0.

Bluejay girls win in opener

The Seward girls' soccer team scored two goals in the first half and defeated Columbus Lakeview 2-0 in the opening round of the Central Conference tournament April 11.
