Tedi Lynn Beck Ellison was born to Carol and Theodore Beck on Oct. 8, 1954, in Seward, and baptized on Oct. 22.
Tedi loved growing-up in Seward, attending St. John Elementary School, Concordia High School and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She graduated from UNL with a bachelor’s degree in 1975, receiving a Master’s degree in 1980.
Tedi met Chuck Ellison and his two daughters, Kim and Courtney, in August of 1992. She and Chuck were married on Dec. 12, 1993. Tedi loved Chuck deeply and cherished the family created that day. Her greatest joys were watching the girls grow up and later welcoming to the world, as she would say, “The most amazing grandchildren ever!” – Kathryn and Karter Russell and Bodie, Ellison (Ellie) and Dexter Harvell. The grandkids would say that no one did being a grandma like Gramma. She made everything feel magical, creating a world filled with sparkle, fun, always a YES and bedtime is flexible. She never let them forget how much she loved them.
Tedi was blessed to have three careers. The first was teaching in elementary schools in Nebraska for nine years. The second was at Texas A&M University for 15 years, five as an athletic academic advisor for women’s athletics and 10 years as Director of Athletic Compliance. In 1999, she began her third career, overseeing the business side of Chuck’s new law firm, The Ellison Firm, which she enjoyed for 25 years.
Tedi embodied the spirit of being a hand that lifts others up and fully lived that mission through dedicated service to our community. She served on various boards and committees and was grateful for all the relationships formed throughout the years. She was humbled to receive acknowledgements for her contributions including the B/CS Chamber of Commerce “Volunteer of the Year” and “Citizens of the Year”, American Institute for Public Service “Jefferson Award Recipient”, Community Foundation “Tribute Honorees”, Blinn College Foundation “Appreciation Honorees”, Texas A&M University Fish Camp Namesakes and she was inducted into the Texas A&M Lettermen’s Association “Hall of Honor”.
Tedi is survived by her husband, Chuck; step-daughters, Kim and Courtney; Kim’s husband Dave Russell and their two daughters – Kathryn and Karter; and Courtney’s husband Lance Harvell and their three children – Bodie, Ellie, and Dexter. Tedi is also survived by her two brothers, Toby Beck and Kevin Beck; Toby’s wife Ellen, and son JT and his wife Harper.
The funeral service will be at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in College Station, officiated by Michael Hafer on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. A private committal service is planned Nov. 17. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating your time, talents or treasure to lift someone up and make their life better because you were in it.
It was important to Tedi that the summary of her earthly life encourages you to believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, that He died for your sins and rose again so that you can have eternal life.
