At its July 2 meeting, the Milford City Council:

• heard an update on the Citizen Advisory Review Committee, which commands the LB 840 funds collected from sales tax.

Jeff Baker, who oversees the committee, said the city has committed to use $10,000 from the fund for a housing study and $30,000 for Bluestem Network’s fiber optic project in town.

The city also paid out $16,051 to Runza Restaurant for a new location in Milford.

After those expenses, Baker said the LB 840 fund has $119,638 remaining. He pointed out that the funds are not being invested to earn interest.

• approved the fire department roster at 42 members, 15 of whom are EMTVs. The fire chief is Travis Fougeron. The Rescue Chief is Troy Pickerill. The department president is John Melena.

• appointed Brad Havener, Gerry Dunlap, Roger Kontor and Kendall Hoggins to the newly formed Housing Committee. The council will continue to search for a fifth person to serve on the committee.

The committee will help establish who will receive funding from a $250,000 Affordable Housing Grant the city received from the Southeast Nebraska Development District.

• approved pay application No. 4 for Tru-Built Construction in the amount of $162,214.73 for work completed on the new municipal building.

• adopted a resolution to add all four council members and three other city staff to signature cards on the city’s account at Farmers and Merchants Bank.

• adopted an ordinance to amend the city code at section 5-518 to specifically define truck, tractor-trailer and pickup truck and outline when, where and for how long such vehicles may be parked within the city.

• adopted two more ordinances, adding sections 5-520 and 5-521 to the city code, relating to parking trailers, boats and travel trailers on public streets.

• scheduled a budget work night for Tuesday, July 23, beginning at 6 p.m. The work session is open to the public.
