It was a tough week for the Seward Legion seniors last week. Seward scored seven runs over three games and came up short in all three.

Seward lost to Hickman 9-4 June 15, to Westco 11-3 June 18 and to Beatrice 9-0 June 20.

The Seward offense managed just two hits against Hickman, both by Colton Meyer. One was a double. Hunter Novacek drove in two runs for Seward, which drew nine walks.

Seward led 4-3 going into the seventh inning and gave up six runs in the frame. Novacek and Isaac Spotanski split the pitching duties, combining for nine strikeouts.

Seward hosted Westco Friday and allowed two five-run innings for the Zephyrs. Seward finished with four hits in the game, all singles. Kalen Knott and Spotanski each drove in a run.

Beatrice pitching shut down the Seward offense Sunday, allowing just one hit, a single by Cameron Olson in the fifth inning.

Peyton Quakenbush took the loss, striking out five over 5 1/3 innings.

The seniors (2-10) were to play at Crete June 22 and host York Friday, June 25, at 7 p.m. The league tournament starts Tuesday, June 29, but brackets were not available at press time.
