Roger Hans of Seward passed away Aug. 26, 2018, at his home at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 10 days. Roger was born April 16, 1937, in Seward to Gilbert (Gib) and Thelma (Reynolds) Hans. He graduated from Seward High School with the class of 1954. Roger was united in marriage to Mary Ann Ebers on June 13, 1958, in Seward. They were blessed with three children, Cheri, Timothy and Cara. 

Roger lived his entire life in Seward County. Roger was a talented auto mechanic. He worked at Herpolsheimers for 28 years, Rumery Sod and Sprinklers, Subway Motors and was a cherished maintenance man at the Seward Housing Authority. Roger was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, serving in many areas. He was a 4-H leader and served on the Extension board, was a member and past president of the Seward Saddle Club and was a member of the Nebraska Thunderbird Club.

Roger was a hard working man who valued honesty, integrity and always doing your best. He took great pride in taking excellent care of his Dodges, motorcycles and Thunderbirds. Roger was proud of his children and grandchildren and their strengths and accomplishments. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Albert and Merle Ebers; sister, Mary Evans; and nephew, Pat Evans, and his wife, Darla Evans. 

Roger is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann; three children and their families, Cheri and Mitch Ziebell of Cozad and their children, Amanda and Ross Spradlin and their children, Rieker and Mollie, Sarah Ziebell and her children, Chandler Behymer, RaeLyn Hillers and Imagen Ziebell, and Rebecca and Cesar Santos and their son, Kevin; Tim Hans and Leigh Keiter of Seward and their children, Wyatt and Chandra Hans and their children, Ruger and Kimber, and Callan Hans-Bowen; and Cara Hans and Geoffrey Gordon of Wrightwood, California; brother and sister-in-law, Russell and JoAnne Hans of Seward; brother-in-law, Larry Evans of Grand Island; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Helen Thompson of Kearney; special nieces and nephews; cherished friends, Gary and Lynelle Matulka, Roger Graves, Roger Warnsholz, Earl Cooksey and Orville Pearson; and a host of treasured relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held Aug. 31, 2018, at the Seward United Methodist Church. A private interment was in Seward Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hans family for future designation. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.zabkafuneralhome.com.
