Wendy Sue Lohmeier was born to Ivan “Hyle” and Donna (Jantze) Cook on June 21, 1959, in Friend,  and went to her Heavenly home Nov. 26, 2022, at the age of 63.

Wendy attended schools in Friend, Milford, Douglas, Lincoln and graduated from Malcolm High School with the class of 1977. She was employed at Postal Finance, Farmers Cooperative, Centel Supply and had 25 years with Olsson Associates. Wendy was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, John Lohmeier, on Sept. 15, 1979, at Bethel Mennonite Church in Milford. To this union, two daughters were born, Tiffany and Savannah.

Wendy loved her family dearly. John and her girls were the light of her life. She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, colleague, neighbor and friend. She was a Christian woman that loved her Lord. Wendy was one classy lady who was a wonderful example to everyone that knew her. She touched the lives of many people. Wendy’s smile was contagious. She will truly be missed and will never, ever be forgotten.     

Wendy was involved in many high school activities including sports and cheerleading. She encouraged her daughters in all facets of life. She never missed any of her girls’ or grandchildren’s activities and was always their biggest fan.

Wendy is survived by her husband of 43 years, John Lohmeier, Seward; daughters, Tiffany (Kerwin) Roth, Seward, and Savannah (Elliott) Engle, Firth; grandsons, Kretyn, Kain, and Noah Roth; granddaughters, Brooklyn and Boston Engle; sister, Dixie Cook, Ocala, Florida; sisters-in-law, Karen Cook, Lincoln; JoAnn (Wayne) Ficke, Lincoln, Jean (Gerry) Schultz, Lincoln, LuAnn (Pat) Yost, Edmond, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews, Nathan Cook (fiancé Makayla Tipton), Nicole Cook, Deanna (Keith) Eloi, Laura (Jack) Shaw; Lori (Scott) Doty, Jeff (Barb) Ficke, Gerry (Cindy) Ficke, Amanda (Ryan) Forry, Tracy (Betty) Ficke, Brian (Angel) Ficke, Andy Ficke, Jonessa Ficke, Rebecca (Rich) Buchmann, Kevin (Sarah) Schultz, Jenny (Troy) Davison, Dan (Ashley) Yost, Jennifer (Daniel) Berry and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, Ivan “Hyle” and Donna Cook; infant son, John Jacob Lohmeier; brother, Michael Cook; infant siblings, Joseph and Deanna; grandparents, Joseph Jantze, Verda and George Yeackley and Ernest and Ada Cook; parents-in-law, Earl and Adeline Lohmeier; stepfather, Bud Pearson; and nephew, Russ Riley.

The funeral service was Dec. 3 at the East Fairview Mennonite Church, Milford, with interment at the Seward Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Milford Public Schools or the Malcolm Public School Backpack Program.
