The Village of Staplehurst Board of Trustees met on December 23, 2025, with Chairperson Frank and Trustees Wilken, Benedict, Hans, and Stava present at roll call. The Board approved village claims totaling $50,195.40, including payments to Pack N Save $17.38, Midwest Service & Sales Co. $134.25, Waste Connections of Nebraska $140.11, Crouch's Farm and Hardware $633.01, Farmers Cooperative $182.92 and $144.62, Midwest Laboratories, Inc. $141.85, Wayne Regnier $183.67, Reed Electric $665.97, Constellation NewEnergy-Gas $303.51, Cornhusker Press $89.85, Northeast Nebraska Telephone Co. $59.84, One Call Concepts Inc. $4.49, City of Seward $1,000.00, Staples $121.31, Chris Eckles $2,999.56, Black Hills Energy $250.61, Jones Group Insurance $21,659.00, Nebraska Public Health Environmental Lab $102.00, Nebraska Municipal Clerks Association $50.00, Norris Public Power District $1,286.45, and The Depository Trust Company $20,025.00. Fire Department highlights: Reported 2 rescue calls and 0 fire calls; approved claims totaling $1,667.23 including Midwest Automotive $822.28, Fast Mart $69.95, and Macqueen $775.00. Maintenance highlights: First snow removal of the season went well; ordering more salt; waiting on results from water training certification; used GPS unit to locate curb stops and fire hydrant stops; will be looking for a new maintenance truck. Board approved appointments for 2026: Deb Frank as Chairperson, Svehla Law Offices, P.C. of York as Village Attorney, Reed Miller as Village Street Superintendent, and Miller & Associates as Village Engineer. Board approved audit waiver for year ending September 30, 2025, with services partnered by GBE out of Seward. Board adopted Upper Big Blue NRD Hazard Mitigation Resolution 2025-1223 in partnership with the county to lessen the effects of disasters. Street Bond has been paid in full.
