Vickie Diane (Hemphill) Novak, of Seward, was born June 4, 1953, to Dale and Deloris (Landenberger) Hemphill in Seward.

She attended Seward High School, graduating in 1971. On Sept. 23, 1972, Vickie was united in marriage to Richard Novak in Seward. Vickie worked as a librarian, a dispatcher for the Seward Police Department, ran an in-home daycare for several years, she also cleaned houses, worked at McDonald's for a short time, Pac-N-Save and Husker Headquarters. Most recently, she was a florist at Pac-N-Save in Seward. In her free time, she enjoyed her flower garden, doing word searches, collecting dolls and antiques and Wizard of Oz memorabilia. She was a collector of gnomes and an avid shopper. She was also a member of the Charlie Pride Fan Club. Vickie passed away Dec. 7, 2023, at the age of 70 at her home surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Novak of Seward; children, Deedee Wilkinson (Tony Newlun) and Charles J. “CJ” Novak, both of Seward; grandson, Ethan Wilkinson; brothers, Steve (Deb) Hemphill of Staplehurst, Jack Hemphill of Utica, and Rick (Deb) Hemphill of Utica; and sister-in-law, Lyn Hemphill of Utica. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Deloris Hemphill; and brothers, Jerry Hemphill, Jimmy Hemphill and Gene Hemphill.

She was known for always having a smile on her face and will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Volzke Funeral Home in Seward. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the church with committal at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church Cemetery in Bee.
