Presentation about Nebraska'a volunteers in civil war April 20

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Department of Nebraska and the Dakotas is having their 24th annual Department Encampment at the Nebraska National Guard Museum at 201 No. 8th Street in Seward Nebraska on Saturday April 20, 2024 at 1:15 p.m. A speaker from SUVCW will give a speech about the First Nebraska Volunteer Infantry and their involvement in the U.S. Civil War.

Allo to connect more homes

ALLO Fiber has announced it will expand its network to Garland in Seward County and the nearby Branched Oak Observatory.

The company recently completed its fiber build in Seward and continues to work in rural parts of the county. These communities will have access to a 10 GIG-enabled network.

Puzzle tournament to be held at library

The Seward Memorial Library will hold its puzzle tournament tonight at 6:30-7:45 p.m. Teams can have up to four members.

Big fourth leads to CHS loss

Centennial gave up 11 runs in the fourth inning against Lincoln Lutheran April 8 and lost to the Warriors 18-4. Bryson Hornbacher was 2-2 and drove in a run for the Broncos. CHS is next in action April 11 at Thurston/Cuming County.

SHS doubles up Pius

Seward scored in every inning but the sixth April 8 in its 10-5 win over Lincoln Pius X. Kyle Peery led the offense with a 2-3 day and drove in two runs. Finn Hochstein got the start on the mound and struck out seven in six innings. SHS will be at Adams Central this afternoon. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.

Track teams come to Milford

Milford High will host its annual track meet this afternoon starting at 3 p.m. The field includes Centennial and Seward, as well as teams like David City, Wilber-Clatonia and Tri County from the area.
