Sherry Kay Hoffschneider, age 53 of Utica, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, in Seward.

She was born April 27, 1970, to Robert Joseph and Glenda Kay (Johnson) Thorn in Marysville, Kansas. On December 4, 1993, she was united in marriage to Todd James Hoffschneider in Beattie, Kansas. Sherry was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Utica. She was most recently employed with DHHS as an office specialist. Previously, she served as a teacher’s aid for nine years at St. Paul’s Lutheran School, where she shared her creative talents with students, staff and the community. She was an artist and formerly a floral designer, and loved music. Sherry really enjoyed being on the farm and loved her children and family times.

She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Kay Hoffschneider and Rachel Erin Hoffschneider, both of Lincoln; her son, James Robert Hoffschneider of Utica; mother, Glenda Kay (Johnson, Thorn) Decker of Utica; brother, Paul Joseph (Brandi) Thorn of Lincoln; sister, Tammy Renee (Brent) Schick of Osawatomie, Kansas; mother-in-law, Joan Hoffschneider of Utica; brothers-in-law, Allan (Julie) Hoffschneider of Waco; Scott (Jenny) Hoffschneider of Arlington; Kevin (Jill) Hoffschneider of Burwell; sister-in-law, Lori (Wayne) Bruns of Waco; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Todd James Hoffschneider; father, Robert Thorn; and father-in-law, Burton Hoffschneider.

The funeral service was March 5 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Utica with interment at St. John Cemetery in Waco. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the church and school  or to the family for later designation. Arrangements by Metz Mortuary in York.
