Sharon Vae (Meyer) Culp, of Seward, was born Jan. 15, 1950, to Marvin and Eileen (Duis) Meyer in Fairbury.

She was baptized in Bruning and confirmed in faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in rural Milford. She attended Seward High school, graduating in 1969. On July 19, 1969, Sharon was united in marriage to Jerry Culp in Seward. Sharon was a homemaker her entire life and enjoyed taking care of her family. She was also a cook/kitchen staff at St. John’s CDC and Seward Public Schools. Sharon loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, Annalynn. In her free time, she enjoyed baking, cooking large meals and Husker football and volleyball. Sharon was an EMT for 25 years and volunteered her services to the Seward community. She was elected to Seward Volunteer Fire Department “Hook and Ladder Company” on Jan. 6, 1993. She then went to reserves in 2015 and received her 25-year pin from the fire department in 2018. She was a member of Seward County Sheriff’s Posse and Living Word Lutheran Church in Seward. Sharon devoted her time to taking care of others. She was a mother figure to many. Her laughter and smile lit up every room. Even when she grew ill, she kept her faith in the Lord. Sharon passed away Aug. 23, 2021, in Seward, at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 8 days, surrounded by her family after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Culp, Seward; children, Jeffrey Culp, Seward, Stacey (Jeff) Neihardt, Seward, Sonia Culp (Todd Huisman), Seward; granddaughters, Emily (Michael) Baumann, Gabby Neihardt; grandsons, Shawn Strole, Eric Strole, Kameren Neihardt; great-granddaughter, Annalyn Baumann; brother, John (Maralee) Meyer, Milford; twin sister, Karen Mundhenke, Milford, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Eileen Meyer; brother-in-law, Mike Mundhenke; nephew, Mark Mundhenke.  

The funeral service was Aug. 27, at the Living Word Lutheran Church in Seward with interment at the Seward Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Culp family. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.volzkefuneralhome.com.
