The Seward Fire Department and rescue unit responded to a car fire at 8:43 a.m. on Nov. 18. Maureen Sperling of Seward was trapped in her 2003 Saturn L200 when it ignited on Highway 15 near the I-80 interchange, according to Seward County Deputy Dan Howard. “Two people and myself pulled her out through her car window that was already down,” Howard said. Howard said he requested rescue because of potential smoke inhalation. Sperling was transported to Seward Memorial Hospital. The cause of the fire was unknown at press time.
