Seward soccer falls in shootout

A shootout April 11 ended in a 2-1 loss for the Seward girls’ soccer team.

The Jays had their chances, despite missing three or four starters, Coach Greg Miller said.

Ember Penas scored the team’s goal, but Seward lost the shootout 4-2. Because it was a conference tournament game, the teams didn’t play the two 10-minute overtime periods.

“We competed well. Our attitude is good,” Miller said. “Close games aren’t going our way.”

Of the team’s five losses, four are by two goals or less.

The Jays (3-5) were to host Aurora April 16 for senior night. The team is off until Monday, April 22, when York comes to Seward.
