The Datavizion Seward Juniors saw their season end in the Area B4 tournament at Wahoo July 13. Seward went 1-2 in its games and finished the year with a 6-12 record.
Seward opened tournament play July 11 with a 5-4 win over Arlington. Barrett Wiesen went 3-4 and drove in two runs. Kolten Green was 2-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Blaise Schrad, Quinten Hibbert and Dakota Leiting shared pitching duties and combined for three strikeouts in the game.
Seward played the team from Schuyler in its next game and lost 9-6. Seward allowed four runs in the top of the seventh and scored two but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Green, Landon Pelster and Owen Evans had two hits each for Seward. Wiesen and Sam Cooksey each hit doubles. Seward baserunners stole 10 bases in the game. Jessie Leibhart, Wiesen and Green each pitched for Seward, and each struck out two.
In an elimination game July 13, Seward lost to Waterloo-Valley 5-3. Seward led 1-0 after the first inning, but WV scored two in the second. Seward took the lead back with two in the fifth, but WV put up two in its fifth and added an insurance run in the sixth. Seward had the tying run on base when the game ended.
Pelster led the offense with a 3-4 game and drove in a run. Hibbert and Leibhart had two hits each.
Schrad struck out seven in five innings of work, and Pelster struck out two in the final inning.
