Seward County set to hold activities for 4-H month

With February being Nebraska 4-H month, the Seward County Extension will hold events throughout the month to celebrate everyone in 4-H for what they do.

Brittney Emerson, Seward County Extension 4-H assistant, said 4-H Month is a great way for everyone involved in the organization to be recognized for all of the hard work that they do.

“It is not just the people in your county office that run 4-H,” she said. “There are so many moving parts and behind-the-scenes people that deserve recognition. Most of these people are volunteers that donate their time.”

Emerson also said 4-H month is a great time to promote the organization.

“4-H is a very inclusive place for kids to learn real-life skills, make friends and find mentors,” she said. “This month is just a huge celebration of that.”

4-H month is also a great time to remind people that 4-H is more than an organization that shows animals at the fair.

“We also encourage learning in areas like entrepreneurship, STEM, leadership and lots of other important skills through school enrichment programs as well as after-school clubs,” she said. “4-H Month is a chance to celebrate all of the awesome stuff we get to do as educators and volunteers as well as celebrate the success of our youth.”
