Seward County Fair returns for 151st year

The Seward County Fair is back for its 151st year from Aug. 5-8.

Themed, “there's so much more outside your door,” the fair concert will feature Parker McColllum, Flatland Cavalry, Brian Milson and Rascal Martinez. The concert is scheduled for Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and seating is first-come, first-served.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $35 and the price will increase as the fair gets closer.

Most of the fair activities take place from Aug. 5-8, with a few beginning on July 31.

On July 31 there will be archery at 10 a.m. At the reunion center, bull riding at the Grandstands at 7 p.m. and a public fashion show at Harvest Hall at 7 p.m.

Aug. 1 will feature an air pistol, BB gun and air rifle contests at 2 p.m. at the 4-H center.

Aug. 2-3 brings the 4-H horse show at the Grandstands at 8 a.m. on the 2nd and 9 a.m. on the 3rd.

Wednesday, Aug. 4 brings a 4-H dog show at the Reunion Center at 9 a.m. and team roping at the rodeo arena at 10 a.m.

Aug. 5 is packed full of 4-H and FFA shows. The FFA petting zoo runs from 5-9 p.m. There will also be a wine and cheese with music by the B Street Band at Harvest Hall at 5:30 p.m., muttin' bustin' at 6 p.m. at the rodeo arena, “giddy up” pony races at 7:30 p.m. at the Ag Pavilion and The Humdingers Band at 7:30 p.m. at the beer garden.

Friday, Aug. 6 features more 4-H and FFA shows, face painting at the Ag Pavilion at 2 p.m., tractor rides from 2-4 p.m., kids story hour at the Ag Pavilion at 1 p.m., the Grandstand Parker McCullum concert at 6 p.m. and horseshoe pitching contest at the horseshoe pits at 6:30 p.m.

In addition to FFA and 4-H showings, Aug. 7 features an accordion jamboree at the Ag Pavilion from 5-6 p.m., a demolition derby at the grandstands at 6 p.m., and bands playing at the the Ag Pavilion, Harvest Hall and Beer Garden.

On Aug. 8 there will be a weiner dog race at the reunion center at 1 p.m., pedal tractor pull at Harvest Hall at 1 p.m. and Figure 8 races at the Grandstands at 6 p.m.
