After an eight game slide, the Seward boys’ basketball team got back in the win column Jan. 9, beating Beatrice 50-35.
Seward held the Orangemen to 24.4% shooting, including 4-27 from three.
“We were very proud of our defensive effort. We had a great defensive mindset,” Coach Trevor Menke said.
Seward hit 44.2%, with Tresten Hass scoring 16 to lead the way. Bostyn Happ came off the bench and went 3-6 from three to score nine points.
“Overall I thought we were really efficient from two and around the rim,” Menke said. “We’ve had good competitive practices so the focus and togetherness wasn’t a surprise here.”
The Jays (3-8) defeated Schuyler (0-11) 79-22 Jan. 14 and will host Waverly (1-9) Saturday, Jan. 18, at 3 p.m.
Schuyler is averaging 37.7 points per game. Waverly averages 44 per game.
