The Seward boys' and girls' bowling teams won their district competition Jan. 29, earning spots at the Feb. 5-6 state tournament.
The boys defeated Lincoln Standing Bear and Lincoln Northwest in the B3 district. Three Bluejays also qualified for the singles state tournament – Landen Ford, who finished second with a 586; Carl Taylor, who was third with a 555; and Dietrich Erks, who was fifth with a 534.
The Seward girls defeated Lincoln Standing Bear in the opening round and upset top-seeded Waverly in the semifinals. SHS beat Lincoln Northwest in the championship match.
Ryane Cowan bowled a 420 and finished fourth to qualify for the singles competition, as well.
The singles competition will be Monday, Feb. 5, with the boys beginning at 9 a.m. and the girls at 1:30 p.m. The team competition will be Tuesday, Feb. 6. Boys will start at 8 a.m., and the girls will begin at 1:30 p.m.
All Class B state matches will be at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln.
