The Nebraska Door and Window Seward seniors won their first two games of the B4 area tournament in Wahoo, beating Valparaiso 6-2 and York 7-3.
In the opening round win over Valparaiso July 25, Quin Berner was 2-2 with a double, and Bostyn Happ doubled. Tyler Hammond, Karson Dyer and Deklan Lindau combined for 10 strikeouts in the seven innings.
Seward beat York July 26 behind a dominant pitching performance by Lindau. He struck out nine in 4.1 innings. Berner pitched the final 2.2 innings. Quinton Hibbert and Hammond drove in two runs each, and Jesse Leibhart, Berner and Hammond each doubled.
Seward (30-7), the tournament’s top seed, defeated David City 9-1 July 27 to advance to the championship game July 28. Quinton Hibbert was 4-3 and Hammond, Lindau and Leibhart had two hits each. Lindau also drove in four runs. Leibhart doubled and drove in two.
The juniors finished their season in the district tournament, beating York 10-5 July 13 and losing to Aurora 9-5 July 14.
