Tadd TeBrink is a big contributor to the Crete Stop ‘N Shop Senior baseball team, and that was made apparent in its 6-4 win against Auburn on June 12 after TeBrink drove in four Cardinals and hit a home run.

After trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, TeBrink drove in Carson Kotil to get the Cardinals on the board. Later in the inning, Nick Wendt drove in TeBrink to give Crete its first lead of the night.

After a 3-3 game in the fourth, TeBrink hit a home run while also bringing in Max Conell and Kotil to give the Cardinals a three-run lead.

Auburn was able to score a run in the top of the seventh, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Cardinals recorded three outs after the run to put the game away.

Along with his four RBIs and home run, TeBrink scored three runs on three hits and Kenner Svitak struck out 10 batters.

The Crete seniors didn’t have as much luck in the second and final game of the week, losing to Hickman 7-3.

After Everett Heath drove in Kotil in the top of the first, the Cardinals had to wait until the seventh inning to score again. In the top of the seventh, Reece Vertin scored on a wild pitch and Kotil stole home but Crete failed to do anything more, losing to Hickman.

Connell had a double.

Crete (3-14) was scheduled to play at Nebraska City on June 20, at Blair on Wednesday, June 21, at 8 p.m., and at the Mount Michael Seniors Tournament on Friday, June 23, through Sunday, June 25. The first game for Crete will be against Lincoln NorthWest on Friday at 5 p.m.
