Samuel “Sam” Joe Jones went home to his Lord on June 2, 2023 at age 68.
Sam was born to Henry and Ardith Jones on Feb. 22, 1955, in York. In his younger years, he played football in high school and went on to play college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Sam was a 1974 graduate of Seward High School. Sam was a very loving, dedicated father, uncle and grandfather. Above all, Sam was the best husband and he dedicated a lifetime of love and happiness to his late wife, Wilma Jones. Sam and Wilma were married for 43 years and had a beautiful relationship.
Sam is survived by his two children, Angela and Joseph. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brittany, Elijah, Karissa, and his two great-grandchildren, Kassandra and Kruz. Sam also had many siblings, Tom, Maryanne Hubbard Workman, of Seward, and Sandy. Sam lived an extremely fulfilling life, filled with love and joy. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. The funeral service was June 13 at Horan & McConaty Funeral Service & Cremation.
