Ruth Lauree Rehor was born April 2, 1927, in Beaver Crossing, to Roy and Ruth (Ziegler) Miller and passed away Aug. 25, 2022, in Lincoln, at the age of 95 years, 4 months and 23 days. The last of five children, she was known to many as “Babe.”

Ruth attended Beaver Crossing School and as a teenager worked at the tomato canning factory. She also worked at a local ice cream parlor. Additionally, Ruth picked strawberries on the land where her future in-laws farmed.

After graduating from high school, Ruth and her parents went to California to live with her sister, Retta, for several months. During that time, Ruth worked in Kresse’s dime store.

On Aug. 14, 1946, Ruth and Jerome Rehor were united in marriage in Marysville, Kansas. She always was pleased to share that they never dated anyone else. To this union, two children were born, Jerry and Connie.

The family lived in David City, where they first owned a small café called Rehor Lunch, after which they operated a photographic studio. Along with the studio, they owned and operated a small ice cream stand called The Twirl Cone.

In 1964, the family moved to Seward, where they also ran a photographic studio from their home. Ruth was an Avon representative for a brief time before focusing on assisting with the photography business, which eventually included many years of school photography through 2011.

Ruth was always a good singer and enjoyed playing the organ and piano. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends, attending dances with Jerome and taking family vacations. Ruth loved cats and enjoyed owning several during her lifetime along with her faithful chihuahua, Tippy. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many. Everyone enjoyed her sweet smile.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome Rehor; sisters, Mildred Miller, Retta Hauder, June Schlegel; and brother, Kenneth Miller. Ruth is survived by her son, Jerry Rehor, Seward; daughter, Connie Sahn and husband, Delbert, Seward; grandson, Jonathan Rehor and wife, Laura, Rapid City, South Dakota; grandson, Daniel Sahn, Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Eliza, Jamison and Asher Rehor, Rapid City, South Dakota. This beautiful lady will be sorely missed.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home in Seward with interment at the Seward Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, American Heart Association or The Cat House. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.zabkafuneralhome.com.
