Rudolph "Rudy" George Nuttleman was born Aug. 14, 1933, and went to his Heavenly Home on Jan. 29, 2026, at 92 years of age at his home in Seward following the short but wonderful care of his daughter and granddaughters.
He grew up on the G-Precinct farm, northeast of Seward, and attended Leahey Country School until the seventh grade when he transferred to St. John Lutheran School. He graduated from Seward High School in 1951. As the oldest of four, he took over the farming and raising of cattle at the J-Precinct Farm when his father died in 1951. He drove a dump truck when south Highway 15 was being paved. He served seven years in the United States Naval Reserves. During Rudy's 4-H years, he represented Seward County in Chicago at the National 4-H Club Congress.
On March 8, 1958, he married Sandra Duerr at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, and they were married for nearly 68 years. They are the parents of three children, Douglas, Timothy and Susan.
During his banking years, Rudy was also feeding cattle and farming. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Banking in 1967. He served as a teller, loan officer and vice president and was on the board of directors at Cattle National Bank after starting there in 1956. He then purchased the Seward H & R Block office. After selling the office, he continued to work for other owners for 41 years, through the 2025 tax season. He was also involved in his and Sandy's antique and collectible store.
Rudy was a charter member of the Seward Jaycees, served on the first Seward County Zoning Committee and was treasurer of St. John Lutheran Church for 60 years. He was a Husker and Boston Red Sox fan, played shortstop for the Seward baseball team, and team bowled for years. He was interested in and would watch all sporting events. He and Sandy also enjoyed rollerskating.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph F. and Melzena (Dissmeyer) Nuttleman; parents-in-law, Fred Duerr and Lucille Duerr Gabler and Elmer Gabler; brothers, Bill and David Nuttleman sister-in-law, Penny Nuttleman; and Mr. and Mrs. George Dissmeyer, Eatonton, Georgia.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Sandra of Seward; children, Douglas (Julie) Nuttleman and Timothy (Pam) Nuttleman, both of Seward, and Susan Pospisil (Scott Schuld) of Fremont; grandchildren, Cassandra Nuttleman, Taylor (Tiegan) Nuttleman, Cody Nuttleman, Travis (Alyssa) Nuttleman, Shaylea Brown, Riley and Jace Nuttleman, and Faith Dill; great-grandchildren, Rosie, Dwight and Xander; Evangeline, Kane and Abigail, Harley and Harper; sister, Pat (Gary) Dornhoff of Minden; sister-in-law, Mrs. Karen Nuttleman of Lincoln; and numerous nieces and nephews.
