Roy Dwayne Ehrlich of Seward was born Oct. 22, 1946, to Paul and Viola (Bogenhagen) Ehrlich in Burke, South Dakota.

He attended Fort Pierre High School in South Dakota, graduating in 1964. Roy served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 to Dec. 8, 1971. On Aug. 23, 1971, Roy was united in marriage to Linda Hans in Lincoln. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 37 years, retiring in 2003. He then worked for the City of Seward from 2004 - 2021. In his free time, Roy enjoyed watching football. In his younger years he liked to hunt and fish. Roy passed away Aug. 13, 2023, in Seward, at the age of 76.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Ehrlich of Seward; children, Matthew Ehrlich of Scottsbluff; James Ehrlich of Seward, Eric (Alison) Ehrlich of Lincoln, and Philip Ehrlich of Seward; grandchildren, Alicia (Bryce) Davis, Kielyn Ehrlich, Braden Chipman and Cassidy Chipman; great-grandchildren, Rylan and Charllet Davis; and sister, Deanna Dowding. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Viola Ehrlich. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Viola Ehrlich; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Richard Dowding, Sr., Dick and Della Miers, Ray Landenberger, Richard Hans, Marjorie Junge and Nancy Johnson. 

Visitation is from 2 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Volzke Funeral Home in Seward with family receiving friends from 6:30 – 8 p.m. The funeral service is Thursday, Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward with committal with full military honors at the Seward Cemetery.
