Richard Lee “Dick” Trojan was born Dec. 9, 1935, in Seward, to John and Rose (Gruntorad) Trojan and passed away July 10, 2022, in Friend, at the age of 86 years, 7 months and 1 day.

Dick attended grade school as well as high school in Beaver Crossing and was a graduate with the Class of 1953. On June 21, 1958, he was united in marriage to his classmate, Margaret Ann Harter. Their marriage was blessed with three children.

Dick was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army from April 1, 1959, to March 1, 1961. Dick was a lifelong farmer up until his retirement in 2000. During his farming years, he was a dealer for Trojan seed corn and also served as a Seward County Commissioner. Dick enjoyed playing Pinochle and other card games with friends. His hobby was restoring antique tractors. Over the years, he traveled many miles to buy and sell them. In his later years, he enjoyed tilling gardens for people in the community. He loved watching old westerns and listening to polka music and watching polka shows on television. Dick always wore a smile and never met a stranger.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose Trojan; sisters, Rosemary Yost and Joan Tomes and brother, Raymond Trojan.

Survivors cherishing his memory include his wife, Margaret Trojan, Seward; three children and their spouses, Craig Trojan and fiancé, Patti Davis, Lincoln, Barry and wife, Jackie Trojan, Milford and Angela and husband, Mark Griffin, Marshville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Dillon (Brooke) Trojan, Crete, Denver (Kala) Trojan, Cresco, Iowa, Sara Trojan, Dallas, Texas, Garrett Griffin, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Nathan Griffin, Boone, North Carolina; three great-grandchildren; sister, Marcella Sailors, Georgia; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation is from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home in Seward with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. Friday, July 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Beaver Crossing with interment at the Calvary Cemetery in Beaver Crossing.
