Raymond John Flowerday was born Nov. 28, 1961, in Omaha, to William and Gretchen (McGrew) Flowerday and passed away April 21, 2023, in Seward, at the age of 61 years, 4 months and 24 days.

John grew up in Seward where he attended and graduated from Seward High School with the Class of 1980. He then attended Southeast Community College where he studied Automotive Technology and Management.

On June 23, 1984, John was united in marriage to Tammy Deremer at the Seward United Methodist Church. He began working at Hughes Brothers, Inc., on Sept. 8, 1980. He was in the shipping and receiving department until his retirement on April 30, 2022.

John loved fishing and camping. He was an avid football fan and especially loved watching the Huskers, Minnesota Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs. John also enjoyed watching NASCAR. He loved baking and cooking as well as celebrating the Fourth of July. John also enjoyed collecting and watching trains. He cherished spending time with his three daughters, three granddaughters, family and friends.

John was a former member of the Utica Fire Dept. as well as the Seward Volunteer Fire Dept. for 12 years and 27 years on the reserves. He was a member of the union at Hughes Brothers, Inc.

John is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeannie Flowerday; and step-mother, Edna Flowerday.

He is survived by his three daughters, Jessica Wagner, Seward, Jackie and husband, Robert Corner, Bee, and Abby Flowerday, Seward; three granddaughters, Kristi Corner, Samantha Corner and Raven Wagner; sister, Willa and husband Dennis Taylor, Seward.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 27, from 1 – 8:30 p.m. at Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home in Seward with family receiving friends from 6 – 8 p.m.. The funeral service will be Friday, April 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church in Seward. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family for future designations.
