Seward residents can get more information about the upcoming Highway 15 reconstruction project, which will disrupt traffic through downtown Seward, at a public meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19.
The meeting will be at the Lied Senior Center, 1010 Manor Drive in Seward.
Representatives of the Nebraska Department of Transportation will share information about the phases and timing of the project, set to begin April 1.
NDOT will present the information three times between 5 and 7 p.m., so attendees may come and go as they like.
According to a press release from NDOT, accommodations for the hearing and visually challenged or those with limited English proficiency will be made if the department is notified of such needs by March 12. Call (402) 471-0850.
The project involves tearing out and reconstructing the crumbling base of approximately 1.1 miles of Highway 15 (Sixth Street) and resurfacing another .4 miles.
The project will begin just south of the railroad crossing near Dollar General and end just north of Pinewood Avenue.
The project will be done in phases, with traffic detoured around temporary closures.
Completion is anticipated in the spring of 2025.
The public meeting will offer more details regarding traffic impacts, detour routes and scheduling.
