Nebraska-themed art key to postcard contest

Audra Gaswick of Imperial is the Grand Champion artist for the 2025 “Beautiful Nebraska” Student Postcard Art Contest, sponsored by the GFWC NFWC. She was sponsored by the GFWC Champion Junior Women’s Club and is a second-grade student at Chase County Schools in Imperial.

Winners in the contest included:

Kindergarten: Tie—Dawsyn Dostal, Dodge, Howells Community Catholic School, GFWC Howells WC; Quinn Mueller, Exeter, Exeter-Milligan Schools, GFWC Exeter WC

Grade One: Tie—Daniela Reyes, Dodge, Howells-Dodge Consolidated Schools, GFWC Howells WC; Paislee Pankonin, Imperial, Chase County Schools, GFWC Champion Junior WC

Grade Two: Audra Gaswick, Imperial, Chase County Schools, GFWC Champion Junior WC

Grade Three: Tie—Madi Olson, Valparaiso, Raymond Central, GFWC Raymond WC; Ashtyn Ebeling, Dodge, Howells-Dodge Consolidated Schools, GFWC Howells WC

Grade Four: Tie—Ande Zugmier, Raymond, Raymond Central, GFWC Raymond WC; Coy Fehringer, Clarkson, Clarkson St. John Neuman Catholic School, GFWC Clarkson WC

Judges for the project were Peggy Jones and Jeff Imon, both art education majors at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

The students each won a ribbon, medal, certificate and coin. The Grand Champion also won an engraved trophy.

The contest has been sponsored for decades by the GFWC NFWC to promote the state song “Beautiful Nebraska” by Jim Fras. The project co-chairs are Lucinda Johnson and Jean Kolterman of Seward.
