Nancy Lee (Ludwig) Roll was born Jan. 16, 1944, to Elmer and Nellie (Davis) Ludwig in York.

She attended Utica High School, graduating in 1961. On June 8, 1961, Nancy was united in marriage to Dean R. Roll in Fullerton. She then attended the University of Nebraska in the fall of 1961 earning her bachelors degree in education in 1965. She began teaching in 1966, teaching in Palmyra, North Platte and finally, Seward. She returned to the University of Nebraska to earn her Masters Degree in Anthropology in 2000. She continued with her studies toward a PhD while she taught anthropology, and geography at the Southeast Community College-Lincoln campus and at the University of Nebraska until 2020.

In her free time, she enjoyed antiquing, reading, gardening, traveling and ancestry research. She especially enjoyed attending her kid’s and grandchildren’s activities. Nancy passed away Jan. 13, 2024, in Seward, at the age of 79.

She is survived by her husband, Dean Roll of Seward; children, Kelly (Tim) Klenke of Malcolm, Michael (Jacquiline) Roll of Orono, Minnesota, and Christopher (Jennifer) Roll of Maple Grove, Minnesota; grandchildren, Zachariah (Sara) Klenke, Ben (Emily) Klenke, Rebekah (Karter) Carlson, Noah Roll, Gabrielle Roll; great-grandchildren, Gavin Klenke and Keighan Klenke; and brother-in-law, Keith (Marilyn) Braden. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Nellie Ludwig; her sister, Karen Braden; and nephew, Mark Braden.

A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, Feb. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. At Volzke Funeral Home in Seward. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. the same day at the funeral home with a private committal at the Seward Cemetery.
