Free movie raises donations for pantries

Julie Wisehart, owner of the Seward Rivoli Theater, welcomed hundreds of guests – children, parents, grandparents and others – to the 114th birthday party at the historic Seward Rivoli Theater in a celebration sponsored by the Seward Rotary Club. The Seward Rotary annually hosts this free “kids” movie at the Rivoli during the end of February to offi cially welcome spring and celebrate the Rivoli Theater’s birthday with the Wiseharts. Julie and Chuck Wisehart have owned and managed the theater for over 45 years, and Julie was still behind the candy counter during the movie making the great popcorn and selling the special boxes of candy. “The free movie, sponsored by the Seward Rotary, is usually scheduled during a school day off , such as a teacher in-service,” Rotarian Greg Zabka said. “It is a fun day and allows the children and parents to have an inexpensive family outing.” “All we ask is that each person bring a couple of cans of food or some toiletry products, which we donate to area food banks. However no one was turned away if they did not have a donation.
