Minutes of the Village of Bee Board of Trustees (Unapproved) July 8, 2026 Call to Order and Roll Call: The regular meeting of the Village of Bee Board of Trustees was called to order by Board Chair Chris Shipley at 6:57 p.m. Roll call was taken. Present were C. Shipley, E. Simpson, E. Hartwell, and C. Kirby. Clerk/Treasurer J. Brown was also present. Approval of Minutes and Treasurer’s Report: The Board approved the regular meeting minutes and the Treasurer’s report. The Board also approved moving the Ballroom account to the General Fund account so it follows the same procedures as other Village buildings. Sheriff’s Report: No report. Water and Sewer Operator Report: The Consumer Confidence Report test results were posted to the Community Board and should be posted in three locations: the Village, Board, and Flatland. July water bills will include a required questionnaire to be returned with payment. Volunteer Fire Department: No report. Maintenance Report: Weeds were sprayed, the dumpster was emptied, and mosquito spraying continues biweekly. Ballroom Repairs: The Board approved proceeding with Ballroom ceiling painting at a cost of $18,000 and mini-split repairs at a cost of $17,581. Village is responsible for the remaining 10% and 20% of the costs. Ballroom Screens and Community Meeting: Ballroom screens were taken to Seward Lumber for repair due to damage and vandalism. A community meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, at 6:00 p.m., with emphasis on grants for street repair and resurfacing. Community involvement may strengthen grant approval. Attorney Reed Miller may attend, and limited complimentary meals will be provided. Liquor License: The liquor license for the St. Wenceslaus Bee Hive event was approved. Board Vacancy: S. Craig submitted her resignation from the Village Board of Trustees. Notice of the vacancy will be included with the July bills. Announcements and Public Comments: A request was made for a park cleanup day on August 2. A future Get Together/Summer Fun event was also discussed, with food, activities, and games for children in the community. Claims: The following claims were approved unanimously.
