Milford adds five to wins

Eagles win subdistrict

The Milford volleyball team improved to 27-1 with a trio of victories last week.

The Eagles defeated Wilber-Clatonia 25-20, 25-10 and Fairbury 25-21, 22-25, 25-21 in a triangular Oct. 21 and swept Central City 25-18, 25-13, 25-23 Oct. 23.

Shayla Rautenberg led the Eagles with 10 kills against the Wolverines and 17 against Fairbury. Braelynn Muller served three aces against WC, and Adalyn Cisneros picked up 10 digs.

Cisneros also served four aces against FHS.

Kylie Jakub delivered 49 set assists over the two matches.

Milford hosted Central City in its final match of the regular season. In addition to Rautenberg’s 16 kills, Muller added eight. Jakub had 25 more assists, and Libbie Reil picked up 11 digs.

The Eagles hosted the C1-7 subdistrict Oct. 27 and 28 and won both matches to stand at 29-1.

MHS played Lincoln Christian in its first game and swept the Crusaders 25-19, 25-23, 25-16.  Rautenberg led the way with 18 kills and 10 digs. Jakub put up 32 assists. The Eagles defeated Malcolm 25-12, 18-25, 25-20, 25-22 in the subdistrict final Oct. 28. The Clippers swept Holdrege in their first match.

District championship matches are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1.
