MAY 5, 2026 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS Board of Commissioner Meetings are held each Tuesday morning in the Seward County Courthouse at 9:00 a.m., except for the first Tuesday of each month when meetings will be held at 8:30 a.m. Notice of each meeting is posted on the Courthouse bulletin board and on the Commissioner’s room door. The agenda for all meetings is kept continually current and is available for public inspection at the County Clerk’s Office during normal business hours. The agenda is held open until one business day prior to the meeting for appearance before the Board. The Board has the right to modify the agenda to include items of an emergency nature only at such public meeting. CLAIMS ALLOWED JUNE 2, 2026 The Seward County Board of Commissioners convened on May 5, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. Present: Chairperson: Misty Ahmic Members: Raegan Hain, Darrell Zabrocki, Ken Schmieding, Scott Pekarek County Clerk: Brandy Johnson Legal Counsel: Deputy County Attorney, Barbara Armstead Approved minutes of April 28, 2026. Approved claims through April 24, 2026. Officials gave reports of their offices. Commissioners gave reports of their activities. Collin Hain of the Seward County Chamber gave an update of the organization. Approved wage increase of 2% for all positions, including starting wages, for the 2026-2027 Fiscal Year, and the merit award be set at 2%. Approved Chair to sign Cidnet/Encartele agreement for Detention Center. Approved Chair to sign two CentralSquare agreements for Sheriff’s office. Approved request for a hiring bonus for the Corrections Officer position. Approved G&P Landfill to accept waste outside the G&P Landfill Service Area, with the waste to be used as an alternative daily cover. Approved County Clerk’s request to cancel the board meeting on Tuesday, May 12th due to the Statewide Primary Election. Approved Short Form Plat in F precinct. Discussions were held on department head evaluations; and an addendum to the Public Defender Contract.
