Mary Lou (Doty) Eberspacher was born to Clarence and Vida May Doty in Dodge City, Kansas, on Dec. 17, 1933.
After graduating high school in Hiawatha Kansas, Mary Lou moved to Grand Island and worked as a telephone operator at age 18. It was in Grand Island, that Mary Lou met Glen Lee Eberspacher. The two were married on May 25, 1952.
Glen and Mary Lou lived on a farm outside of Utica. Their son, Mark, was born in July of 1954, and their daughter, Melinda, was born in September of 1965. Mary Lou worked in Lincoln at the Nebraska State Fair office for more than 10 years. She also worked as an office manager at several businesses in both Lincoln and Seward. She loved to work and did not finally retire until the age of 75, after 57 years of employment. Mary Lou sold the farm property outside of Utica and Moved into Lincoln in 2004.
Mary Lou was always very active. She was a member of the of the Eastern Star and several Methodist Church groups. She spent many years bowling on teams in Utica and Lincoln. She enjoyed sewing clothes, making many dresses for herself and her daughter. She loved to knit, and made afghans and even some sweaters for dogs. Mary Lou had a green thumb, and always had lots of plants and flowers around the house. She liked to bake and was known for her pies. Mary Lou liked to watch basketball and volleyball. She had many pet dogs over the years, and especially loved her little dog, Charlie.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Vida May Doty; husband, Glen Lee Eberspacher; brothers, Curt Doty and J.H. Doty; and her sister, Sarah Jane Doty. She is survived by her son, Mark Lee Eberspacher of LIncoln; daughter, Melinda Kaye Eberspacher of Petaluma, California; and son-in-law, Tony G. Thomas.
A memorial service was Sept. 26 at the United Methodist Church in Utica with committal in the Utica Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested in care of the National Alzheimer's Association or the donor's choice. Arrangements by Volzke Funeral Home.
