Lyle Henry Ostermeier, of Rising City, was born Sept. 27, 1938, to Henry and Alma (Fritz) Ostermeier in David City.

He attended elementary school at Rural School District 70. Lyle was baptized and confirmed at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garrison. He attended David City High School, graduating in 1957. On Nov. 18, 1962, Lyle was united in marriage to Miriam Luebbe at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Staplehurst. Lyle was a full-time farmer who raised and sold seed corn. In his free time, he enjoyed cooking. He catered and made Ostermeier’s Homestyle Potato Salad Dressing. He was a connoisseur of fine foods, including smoked meats and Peeps. He was active in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church. Lyle passed away Dec. 27, 2023, in David City at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Miriam Ostermeier of Rising City; children, Karna (Kevin) Ahlschwede of Seward, Paul (Rebecca) Ostermeier of Lincoln, and Mark (Sheri) Ostermeier of Crete; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren with one more due in February; and one great-great-grandchild; brother, Lynn (Elizabeth) Ostermeier of Ulysses; sister, Wilma Heins of Rising City; nieces and nephews. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alma Ostermeier; daughters, Amy and Karen Ostermeier; great-granddaughter, Norah Neff; and brother-in-law, Loran Heins.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Faith Lutheran Church in Rising City with committal at Faith Lutheran Cemetery in Garrison. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rising City, or Nebraska Evangelical Lutheran High School in Waco. Arrangements by Volzke Funeral Home.
