Lora Annette Doty, of Fremont, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at the age of 62.

Lora, fondly known as Lori, was born June 13, 1961, in Lincoln to Wayne and JoAnn Ficke. She was Baptized and Confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pleasant Dale. Lori graduated from Milford High School in 1979 and enrolled at Kearney State College. Her hobbies as a young woman included playing the piano, organ, softball, basketball (where she lettered) and attending vacation bible school and Sunday school.

In 1982, while living in Pleasant Dale, she met the love of her life, Scott, and married on April 22, 1983, in Pleasant Dale. While in Pleasant Dale, Lori served on the planning committee for the Pleasant Dale Centennial Celebration, helped plan the Centennial History book and helped paint a mural on the side of Rudy & Marlene’s bar.

Lori and Scott moved to Kansas in 1983 and had three children, Ryan, Heather and Kristin. Lori began working for the United States Postal Service in 1985 and continued there for 37 years, until she retired in 2023. They moved to Fremont in 1993, where they spent their time boating, camping, gardening and with family and friends.

In 2011, Lori and Scott acquired a permanent camping spot on the Platte River, where her camping friends became family. Lori’s more recent hobbies were camping (she was especially fond of upgrading from a tent as a young woman to a fifth wheel), geocaching, air boating, feeding her wildlife critters and spending time with her family. Lori was a big lover of all animals, especially her three cats at home, Kai, Peka and Stumpy.

Lori is survived by her parents, Wayne and JoAnn Ficke; husband, Scott Doty; son, Ryan (Jen) Doty; daughter, Kristin Doty; grandsons, Grayson and Gavin Doty; siblings, Jeff (Barb) Ficke, Jerry (Cindy) Ficke, Amanda (Ryan) Forry, Brian (Angel) Ficke, Tracy (Betty) Ficke, Andy Ficke, Angie Ficke, Daniel Ficke and fiancé Danielle, Jordan Ficke, Lynne Ficke and Joni Ficke; sister and brothers-in-law, Susan Doty, Pat (Linda) Doty, and Bruce (Marge) Koefoot; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, feline kids, grand pups and grand kitties.

Lori is preceded in death by her daughter, Heather Doty; grandparents, Adeline and Earl Lohmeier and Laura and Henry Ficke; parents-in-law, William and Mary Doty; sister and brother-in-law, Julie Koefoot and Mark Doty; aunts, Wendy Lohmeier and Jean Schultz; cousins, Russ Riley, Mike Ficke, Gene Ficke; and nephew, Johnny Sullivan.

The funeral service will be Thursday, Aug. 31, at 2 p.m. at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Broken Bow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catz Angel Rescue Effort www.catzangelscare.org. A visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 31, from noon to 2 p.m. at the mortuary.
