Ballots for Seward’s LB840 renewal election are due back to the County Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

The election on whether to renew the city’s Local Option Municipal Economic Development Act was conducted by mail.

Every registered voter residing within the Seward City Limits should have received a ballot in the mail after Nov. 21.

Ballots may be returned by mail in the provided envelope, with the voter providing return postage; in-person to the clerk’s office on the second floor of the Seward County Courthouse, 529 Seward St.; or in the outside dropbox near the north courthouse entrance.

Envelopes must be signed by the voter and returned by the deadline or the vote will not be counted.

The LB840 program allows the city to set aside $150,000 of its existing sales tax revenue for economic development projects that support business and job growth.

The program must be renewed by voters every 10 years in order to remain in effect.

Voters who have not received a ballot should contact the clerk’s office at (402) 643-2883.
