Larry Cermak, Sr.

Larry Cermak, Sr., 74, of David City died June 5, 2018, at David Place in David City. Larry was born May 20, 1944, in Staplehust to James and Libbian (Eret) Cermak. He graduated from David City High School and attended college for two years. Larry enlisted in the United States Army in 1965, was discharged in 1966, and served in the reserves until 1973.

On April 17, 1967, Larry was united in marriage to Wanda Reese at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City. After Larry's honorable discharge from the United States Army, he worked for Dale Electronics in Columbus as a computer programmer. In 1977, Larry went to work for the Columbus Police Department until 1984. He then drove a truck for Clark Brothers Transfer, while still listed as a reserve for the police department, until 1992. Larry moved to David City in 1992 and went to work for ConRon Bridge Builders, and finally in 1995 began working at Metro Mail in Seward until suffering a stroke in 2005. Larry enjoyed fishing, trap shooting, going to the casino and fireworks, and he was a Jeff Gordon fan.

Larry is survived by his son, Larry (Julie Waegli) Cermak, Jr. of David City; daughter, Ivy (Brad) Slovinski of Pine Island, Minnesota; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, James and Libbian Cermak, and brother, Robert Cermak.
