Kirk Leroy Ehrlich

Kirk LeRoy Ehrlich was born Dec. 24, 1954, in Lincoln to Darrell “Duke” and Opal (Kroese) Ehrlich. He died Jan. 12, 2020, in Lincoln. Kirk grew up in Lincoln with his parents and four siblings. After completing high school at Lincoln East, he joined the Navy, where he served as a Hospital Corpsman Third Class (HM3). 

Upon leaving the Navy, he joined the Nebraska National Guard as a Combat Medical Specialist, eventually earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He also attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, earning his bachelor of journalism degree in broadcast journalism.

Kirk loved to read and enjoyed karaoke with his friends and family. Photography was another favorite hobby. He had an outgoing, friendly personality and never met a stranger. He enjoyed making new friends and regularly keeping in touch with old friends, and took great pleasure in speaking with other military veterans.

Kirk was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughters, Rebekkah (Bill) Brauer of Staplehurst and Erin Ehrlich of Lincoln; and son, Anthony Ehrlich of Lincoln; his brother, Jeff Ehrlich, and sisters, Kerri Johnson, Jenni (Larry Mellen) Stewart and KC Corr, all of Lincoln; grandchildren, Kara (Logan), Brook, Corvette, Dharma and Sierra; great-grandchild, Lillian; and nine nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life gathering will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, at the Firefighters Reception Hall in Lincoln. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to local veterans programs.
