Kane Michael Nordmeyer was born Oct. 19, 1977, in Seward, to Darrell and Deb (Downing) Nordmeyer and passed away July 4, 2023, in Broken Bow, at the age of 45 years, 8 months and 15 days. He was baptized Jan. 15, 1978, and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Malcolm.

Kane grew up on a farm near Malcolm and attended and graduated from Malcolm High School in 1996. He enjoyed playing baseball, football and basketball, and made many life-long friends. Kane then attended Nebraska Wesleyan University, playing baseball for one year and then transferred to Southeast Community College in Milford, where he obtained his Non-Destructive Testing Degree. His career led him to Kansas to work at Raytheon, followed by a move back home to work at Dobson Brothers Construction. He then moved to Cozad to work for Paulsen, Inc., as the fleet/equipment manager, working in a job he loved where he made even more life-long friends. In 2013, Kane and his brother, Brent, started a cattle company called Nordmeyer Brothers Cattle Co.

The most important part of his life was spending time with his three kids, watching them in all of their activities and teaching them to love the outdoors as much as he did. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking for anyone who would stop by and eat. He could also fix whatever was broken and was always willing to help whoever needed it.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Nordmeyer; grandparents, Art and Margaret Nordmeyer, Herb Downing and Clarence and Irene Heidtbrink.

Kane is survived by his children, Savannah, Lane and Tessa Nordmeyer; parents, Larry and Deb Heidtbrink; brothers, Brent Nordmeyer and Tyler (Megan) Heidtbrink; grandmother, Ruth Downing; nephews, Max and Kale Nordmeyer, Heston, Thayer and Graham Heidtbrink; niece, Emma Heidtbrink, and a multitude of family and friends.

A memorial service is Wednesday, July 12, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Nordmeyer Family for future designations. Arrangements by Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home.
