Julianna “Julie” Helen (Wiemer) Schluckebier was born Dec. 30, 1943, to Carl and Nora (Wellman) Wiemer in Beaver Crossing.
She attended Utica High School, graduating in 1962. She then attended Concordia University, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. On Aug. 5, 1967, Julie was united in marriage to Gary Lee Schluckebier at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Utica. Julie was an elementary and preschool teacher. She also helped Gary on the farm. In her free time, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s sporting activities, and Nebraska football and volleyball. She also enjoyed baking her famous chocolate chip cookies for her family. Julie passed away April 21, 2025, age the age of 81.
She is survived by her children, Carman (Rodney) Koranda, Lance Schluckebier, Wade (Laura) Schluckebier, and Brent (Clarissa) Schluckebier; grandchildren, Cody (Krista) Koranda, Casey Koranda (Mattie Hans), Crayton Koranda, Bryson Schluckebier (fiancée, Marrisa Meister), KaeLee Schluckebier, Paige Schluckebier, Kaleb Schluckebier, Ryon Richardson, Annika Schluckebier, Zachary Schluckebier, Cabe Schluckebier, Eli Schluckebier, and Mia Schluckebier; great-grandchildren, Lena Koranda, and Jack Koranda; sisters, Kathy (Gary) Crawford, Jeanie (Mike) Orosco, Marsha (Kip) Stanley; brothers, Lonnie Wiemer, Bob (Lindy) Wiemer; and sisters-in-law, Donna (Eric) Michel and Mary Ann Cromwell.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Wiemer and Irvin and Nora Erks; and husband, Gary Schluckebier.
Visitation is Monday, April 28, from 4 – 8 p.m. at Volzke Funeral Home with a gathering of family and friends from 6:30 – 8 p.m. The funeral service is Tuesday, April 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church at Goehner with committal at the Mound Prairie Cemetery in Goehner. Memorial contributions are suggested in care of the Schluckebier family.
