Casey Kindt has been found competent to stand trial. Kindt has been charged in the murder of his ex-fiancee.
Kindt, 54, was being evaluated by doctors at the Lincoln Regional Center.After reviewing their report, Judge James Stecker ruled March 19 that Kindt is mentally competent.
Doctors were determining if Kindt understands the proceedings against him and can assist in his own defense.
Kindt is accused of shooting 36-year-old Jamie Hagen four times and killing her Feb. 8 after breaking in to her house in Seward. After he shot her, he shot himself.
He now faces six felonies, including first-degree murder and burglary.
He is due back in court on April 2.
