Jerry Dean Roth was born April 23, 1948, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Ervin Lee and Margaret Louise (Tucker) Roth and passed away April 17, 2023, in Lincoln at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 25 days.

Jerry was raised in the Bee and Garland areas, where he was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Garland. He attended and graduated from Garland High School with the Class of 1966. Jerry then attended Milford Trade School where he studied auto body, graduating in 1968. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Smetter, and to this union, three children were born. Jerry worked a short time at Bern’s Body Shop before he started farming full-time. He farmed for more than 50 years and loved everything about farming, raising cattle and horses. In 2005, he adopted two of his granddaughters, Jamie and Elizabeth.

Jerry loved hunting and fishing. He really enjoyed building and working on guns. In his younger years, he loved playing all sports, especially baseball, football, basketball and is still holding several records in track. Jerry loved watching western and war movies and was quite the history buff. He also was an avid reader of his Bible. He was a member of the Garland Fire Department and a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Randy Roth, Andy Roth, Gary Roth and Mark Roth; and nephew, Jason Roth.

Survivors cherishing Jerry’s memory include his children, Todd Roth, Bee, Darin Roth, Garland, Amy and husband, Kevin Prochaska, Staplehurst, Jamie and husband, John Wheeler, Basehor, Kansas, and Elizabeth Roth, Basehor; six grandchildren, Trevor, Skyler, Mackenzie, Brianna, Carson and Molly; three great-grandchildren, Jazmin, Jayden and Malachi; brother, Rodney and wife, Karen Roth, Lincoln; sister, Pat and husband, Rod Luft, Garland; two sisters-in-law, Debbie Roth and Janice Roth.

The funeral service was April 21 at Zion Lutheran Church in Garland with interment at the Seward Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Garland Fire and Rescue Department. Arrangements by Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home.
