Jean Louise Bangert left this earth for her heavenly home on Nov. 7, 2022, at the age of 94.

She was born to Hugo and Marie Niemoth on Dec. 13, 1927. She spent her childhood on the family farm in St. Libory, and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. Jean married Fredrick Bangert on Aug. 18, 1946. After her marriage to Fred, she resided in Seward until her passing. Jean was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward for 75 years, where she was active in Ladies' Aid and Bible classes. She was a beloved mother to four children, and a loving wife to Fred. She was known for many years in Seward as the “cake lady” because she created many beautiful wedding and special occasion cakes for others. She also taught cake decorating for Southeast Community College adult classes until retiring in 1995.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Marie Niemoth Possin; step-father, Walter Possin; husband, Fred; sister, Evelyn Bader; brother, Wilmer Niemoth; an infant sister; and two grandsons, Adam Klinge and Connor Thomsen. She is survived by a sister, Rosella Hiegel; and four children, Patricia Parker (Tom), Paulette Battisto (Steve), Timothy Bangert and Lori Thomsen; six grandchildren, Alison Lueders (Larry), Emily Hauenstein (Ryan), Stephanie Battisto, Gage Hampton, Sean Bangert (Theresa), Travis Bangert (Kylie), and Stephen Thomsen (Samantha); 16 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Katelyn and Kyle Lueders, Breckin, Clara, Amelia, and Julia Hauenstein. Abram and Isabelle Hampton, Max, Harrison, Wesley, Aidan, Breckin and Blakely Bangert, and Chloe Thomsen; also many nieces, nephews and friends.

Signing of the remembrance book is Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Volzke Funeral Home in Seward. A memorial service will be Thursday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward with inurnment at the Greenwood Cemetery in Seward. Memorial contributions are suggested to the church.
