Janice Marlene Goldsmith, of Seward, was born Nov. 2, 1945, to Wayne and Olga (Schwarting) Teggatz in Homestead, Iowa.
She attended Williamsburg Community High School, graduating in 1963. She then attended Concordia Teachers College, earning her Master’s Degree in Education. On June 17, 1967, Janice was united in marriage to Gordon Goldsmith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa County, Iowa. She taught at Centennial Elementary Public School in Utica for 42 years. In her free time, she enjoyed painting and gardening. She especially loved spending time with her family and playing with her eight grandchildren. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. Janice passed away June 29, 2022, in Seward, at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 27 days.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon Goldsmith of Seward; son, Trent (Elizabeth) Goldsmith of Lincoln; daughter, Tarrah Mueri of Seward; grandchildren, Andrew Goldsmith, Caleb Goldsmith, Timothy Goldsmith, Seth Goldsmith, Luke Goldsmith, Joseph Goldsmith, Kaden Goldsmith and Amara Mueri; brother, Ronnie Teggatz; sisters, Nancy VanDee and Kate Stockman. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Olga Teggatz and brother, Donald Teggatz.
A memorial service was July 5 at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward with inurnment in the Greenwood Cemetery in Seward. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.volzkefuneralhome.com.
