Gary Wayne Pomerenke, of Seward, was born Dec. 6, 1960, to Gerald and Lois (Oetting) Pomerenke in Marshall, Missouri.
He attended Marshall High School graduating in 1979. He then attended Concordia University, Nebraska, receiving his Bachelors in Sociology and Psychology. He attended the University of Missouri receiving his Bachelors in Science in Physical Therapy. In his free time, Gary enjoyed reading, singing, painting, crafting, watching sports, cooking, and attending church. Gary passed away Oct. 20, 2023, in Seward, at the age of 62.
He is survived by his children, Micah Pomerenke of St. Louis, Missouri, Lydia (Taylor) Mushinki of Houston, Texas, Nora (Mason) Gahan of Kansas City, Misouri, and Julia Pomerenke of Norfolk; brothers, Brian (Jodi) Pomerenke of Miami, Missouri, and Mike (Kim) Pomerenke of Caramel, Indiana; grandchildren, Henry and Clara Pomerenke, and Thea and Mabel Mushinski. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Lois Pomerenke; his brother, Joel Pomerenke; and his daughter, Taya Mae Pomerenke.
Signing of the remembrance book will be from 1 – 8 p.m. at Volzke Funeral Home in Seward. There will be no viewing. Family will be present from 6:30 – 8 p.m. The memorial service will be Friday, Oct. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward with committal at the Seward Cemetery.
