Frances Jane (Wait) Hegener passed away July 22, 2022, just five days after her 95th birthday and four days after her 74th wedding anniversary. She was married July 18, 1948, in Seward, to Wilmer Hegener.
Frances was born July 17, 1927, in Seward. Her boys recall her as a wonderful mom who did a lot of volunteer work in the communities she lived. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. Both Wilmer and Frances were avid square dancers and later round dancers for more than 48 years, belonging to various dance clubs in Lincoln, Cando, North Dakota, Lake Charles, Louisiana, and finally Kerrville Texas.
Frances is survived by her husband of 74 years, Wilmer Hegener; sons, Stan (Pam) Hegener and Gary (Linda) Hegener; grandchildren, Tricia Carr, Spence Hegener, Emily Crotchett and Anne Good; great-grandchildren, Peyton Carr, Caleb Carr, Grace Hegener, Grant Hegener, Jack Crotchett, Charlie Crotchett, Wil Crotchett, Kate Crotchett, Rowan Good and Miles Good.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Weldon Wait and Agnes (Fueston) Wait, and sisters, Viloa Rockenbach and Evelyn Winfield.
Burial was at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
