Evangeline Barth was born at the family farm in Staplehurst, the daughter of Bernhard and Wilhelmine Duer.

She was the second youngest of nine children. She was better known to family and friends as Vangie. Evangeline attended Immanuel Lutheran School as a child. She graduated the 10th grade at Staplehurst High and the 12th grade at Seward High in 1954. On Dec. 3, 1960, she married Harold Barth of Grafton. They made their home in Grafton, farming for a living. Together, they had three daughters, Teresa, Deann and Denise. In 1997, they retired from farming and moved to York. She had been living at Liberty, Missouri, the last eight years. She had many hobbies, was talented in art and loved spending time with her family.

Evangeline was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa; parents, Bernhard and Wilhelmine Duer; husband, Harold Barth; parents-in-law, Albert and Edna Barth; and seven of her siblings, Henry Duer, Verna Mosley, Edwin Duer, Darlene Orth, Dorothy Parks, Kenneth Duer, and Frederick Duer; siblings- in-law, Mary (Barth) Hickstein, Annabelle Duer, Don Mosley, Delmar Ahrens, Charles Parks, Norma Jean Duer, Norma Ann Duer and Jim Ludwig.

She is survived by her daughters, Deann Benningfield and Denise; son-in-law, David Benningfield; grandchildren, Jordan Benningfield, Adriel and Dylan Reaves; and great-grandchild, Kaiden Reaves; sister, Cynthia Ludwig; sister-in-law, Lavonne Duer; and brothers-in-law, DeVern Orth and Charles Hickstein.

The funeral service will be at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kearney, Missouri, on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in York in the spring.
