Elaine Heiden, age 88 of Benedict, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, at Osceola. She was born April 16, 1933, to Carl and Minnie (Tonniges) Hinze at Thayer. On Sept. 24, 1961, she was united in marriage to Lowell E. Heiden at York.

Elaine was a cook at the Benedict School for many years and was also a bus driver for the local schools. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Elaine loved to cook and bake, was an avid card player and liked to go on walks.

She is survived by her son Jim (Stephanie) Heiden of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughter, Cindy McLean of Benedict; grandchildren, Levi Leif (Ashley Rasmussen) of Thayer, Zach (Jenni) McLean of Omaha, Mandy (Dave) Zorn of Gothenburg, Madison McLean of Benedict, Jessie (Kooper) Ruminer of Edmond, Lexi Heiden of Edmond, and Colby Heiden of Edmond; and great-grandchildren: Lynly Leif of Utica, Elaina and Xander McLean of Omaha, Jaden and Jayla Zorn of Gothenburg and August Luethje of New Hampshire.

She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Floyd Maronde; husband, Lowell; daughter, Gail; brother, Floyd Hinze; and sister, Marjorie Moorberg.

The funeral service is scheduled at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, north of York. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.metzmortuary.com.
